Calvia Lions Club is a service organisation, with a membership of 20 men and women. It has been serving Mallorca’s, elderly, youth and disadvantaged for nearly 30 years.
We are part of Lions Clubs International, which has a dynamic history since being founded in 1917 and is the largest service organisation in the world, with 1.4 million members.
Here in Calvia, we are an English speaking club, with a membership of 20 men and women, from all over the world. We perform volunteer work for many different kinds of community projects, including caring for the homeless, feeding the hungry, aiding seniors, the disabled and the environment. Among the many other causes we help, are the lonely, the needy, the youth. We hold monthly Diabetic Testing, collect used spetecales to help eradicate preventable blindness, provide musical therapists at Son Espases Hospital for ill children, provide Guide Dogs for the blind and much more. Everywhere we work, we make friends.
Our main income is from our Charity Shop based in Palmanova and staffed by volunteers. The public donate items of quality clothes and household items, which in turn are sold at reasonable prices. We can then donate the money raised to the various causes we support. We could not do our work without the help of many friends and sponsors.
Besides our shop income, we have many social events to raise money, which is part of the fun side of being a Calvia Lion.
All money raised stays in Mallorca and is spent on mainly Spanish people and donated to Spanish organisations
